Abstract
The primary problem addressed in this study is the cognitive and theological gap in understanding how the Qur’an metaphorically structures the abstract concepts of dunyā (worldly life) and ākhirah (the Hereafter). Grounded in Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) and utilizing the Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP) tailored to Classical Arabic, this research applies a mixed-methods qualitative-quantitative design to a corpus of 170 Qur’anic verses. Metaphorical mappings were qualitatively extracted based on contextual-semantic divergences, cross-validated with classical Arabic lexicography and exegesis, and systematically quantified to map their distribution across dominant source domains. The findings reveal that dunyā is structured through source domains of containment, transient commodity, play/diversion, hypocrisy, and cyclic decay, whereas ākhirah is framed as permanent abode, true life (ḥayawān), ultimate trade profit, and eschatological harvest. The study demonstrates that these metaphorical structures are not merely rhetorical devices, but foundational cognitive models that reorient human moral agency and cost-benefit reasoning. Ultimately, this research provides an integrated framework that bridges linguistic identification with theological worldview, enriching both cognitive linguistics and Qur’anic discourse analysis.

Abstract
